 ing Herstory</strong></p><p>The Lacks Family has launched a year-long <a hr
 ef="https://hela100.org/hela100">HELA100:  Henrietta Lacks Centennial CELLe
 bration</a> to honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of Henrietta Lacks.
 </p><p>Born in rural Roanoke\, Virginia\, on August 1\, 1920\, Henrietta La
 cks was an African American woman\, wife and mother of five. She also becam
 e the "Mother of Modern Medicine\," changing the world with her immortal He
 La cells. Henrietta's HeLa cells\, taken without her or her family's knowle
 dge or consent\, would become responsible for some of the greatest scientif
 ic advancements of the last century and continue to benefit all of humanity
 .</p><p>This event will kick-off WUSM's participation in HELA100! We will w
 ill view part of the 1997 documentary film <em>The Way of All Flesh</em>\, 
 hear from a panel of WashU experts\, and leave time for Q & A.</p><h2>Regis
