On November 19th\, the attack on the ClubQ in Colorado Springs has left people in fear and trying to make sense of a seemingly senseless a ct of violence. But this violence against our LGBTQ+ loved ones wasn’t rand om. It was the horrible yet inevitable outcome of a climate openly and aggr essively hostile toward LGBTQ+ people. When sources we trust—from faith lea ders to lawmakers\, school boards to news sites—knowingly spread misinforma tion and allow hate to flourish\, this is the result. These virtual session s aim to provide a space where we\, as members of the Washington University School of Medicine community\, can come together to acknowledge the pain o f this tragedy. We will acknowledge the pervasive harm and devastation that is created by divisive narratives and stochastic terrorism\, particularly focusing on heterosexism (or homophobia) and cissexism (or transphobia). We will hold space for reflections\, emotions and calls to action. Please com e and encourage your team and colleagues to join so that we can move throug h this together.
