Our mission
Washington University School of Medicine’s mission is to lead in advancing human health through the promotion of wellness and delivery of outstanding health care, innovative research and the education of tomorrow’s leaders in biomedicine within a culture that supports diversity, inclusion, critical thinking and creativity.
In support of this mission, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will:
- Provide leadership, expertise and advocacy on all diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within Washington University School of Medicine.
- Direct, lead and advance institutional efforts that create a welcoming, diverse and inclusive environment where everyone who learns, trains, conducts research, teaches, works and seeks care within our campus community is included, valued and respected.
- Enhance and develop community partnerships designed to address health needs and promote health equity within the St. Louis community and beyond.

To be the nationally recognized leader in academic medicine and biomedical science where diversity, equity and inclusion are infused throughout the School of Medicine as evidenced by the ways in which we teach, learn, train, work, conduct research and serve the community.
