We invite participants to examine the subtle, often invisible cultural norms that shape our daily lives, relationships, and power dynamics. This interactive session will introduce participants to useful frameworks for exploring class and culture and reflect on ways to name those interactions to build self-awareness and further foster community.

Key Topics Covered

• Capital and Status: Examining how cultural capital (“what you know”) and social capital (“who you know”) affect social status, opportunity, and access.
• Dimensions of Culture: Brainstorming how individual, institutional, and social behaviors operate across conscious and unconscious levels.
• Safety, Bravery, and Power: Reflecting on the factors that make spaces feel safe or risky for sharing personal experiences.

Learning Objectives

• Investigate the concept of culture and its crucial role in fostering connection and trust.
• Examine the mechanisms through which cultural capital is built and spent.
• Explore how our experiences relate to prevailing social and cultural norms.
