Thank you for your interest in the Equity Champion program. The Equity Champion position is a partnership between the Washington University School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) and Departmental Leadership, with a commitment of support/protected time from departmental/divisional leadership.
The application is open to those who have a commitment of supported effort and time from their appropriate leader. Individuals who are not yet able to serve in the role but want to have professional development to further their anti-racism journey can register for the Understanding Systemic Racism curriculum open educational sessions.
After you submit the application below, we will ask that you email us a letter of support signed by both department chair and division chief/manager/supervisor, and include a commitment to allowing the applicant adequate time for training and regular teaching/facilitation of the USR curriculum. Sample language is below:
- The DIVISION/DEPARTMENT fully supports NAME in applying for the role of Equity Champion for the DEPARTMENT/DIVISION through the WUSM Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The DEPARTMENT and DIVISION will commit X FTE/time/effort towards the Champion role for NAME for a minimum of two years, including allotting at least ½ day per week per 0.1 FTE for training, teaching, and other DEI-related activities. Our DIVISION/DEPARTMENT will ensure that NAME’s schedule is free for training the entire week. Please select one of the following training dates below.
